Commissioner Gordon Sketch #12 - Jason Eden

While in San Diego, Jason Eden offered to do a sketch for me, asking at the end of the day if he could take my book home with him. However, he ended up going out with myself and a group of other people for a post-con dinner and drinks.

He did show up the next day with my sketch completed, leaving me to assume that he was drawing Commissioner Gordon at....three or four o'clock in the morning.

Also, Jason Eden? Totally hot.

Commissioner Gordon Sketch #11 - Ted McKeever

Ted McKeever is one of my favorite people. I was sitting across from him at a dinner on Friday night of San Diego Comic Con 2010 and we spent half the time discussing how great the hair in Inception is--and how badly X-Men 3 sucked!

He spent Sunday working on my sketch, and the day before thinking about exactly what he was going to do for me, because he wanted to capture exactly what I love about Commissioner Gordon:

The extreme manliness.

It worked. I love this sketch.

Commissioner Gordon Sketch #10 - Joe Largent

Another from San Diego Comic Con 2010, this time by Joe Largent. I was browsing through his comic, Arsenal and I asked him if he'd do a sketch for me. A few people have told me they think that Joe's interpretation of Gordon here looks a bit like William H. Macy. I think I see the resemblance!

Commissioner Gordon Sketch #9 - Brian Denham

My first from San Diego Comic Con 2010. I was helping out at the Big Wow booth which was quite close to Artist's Alley so I spent a lot of time looking at what the artists were up to and asking for sketches of Gordon.

Brian Denham had a great little set up (and an X-Files banner, which may or may not have been what really caught my attention) and so I worked up the courage to approach him first. I love the originality of this piece, the 'Blues Clues' James Gordon. The amount of detail, like the comb and the 'Sherif' badge, make it all the more awesome.

Commissioner Gordon Sketch #8 - Kate Bradley

Ten minutes before the end of the one-day Montreal mini-convention last Spring, I asked Kate Bradley if she would mind doing a little sketch of Gordon and she came back with this lovely pencil sketch! I do enjoy his clever smirk and arched eyebrow.

Commissioner Gordon Sketch #7 - Samara Leibner

My friend Samara Leibner wins a prize for being the first artist to give me a James Gordon wearing less than a shirt. And believe you me--less is definitely more! Samara and I switched sketchbooks, as she has one in which she has people draw self-portraits. It was a lot of fun!

If you want to check out more of Samara's very cool artwork, you can check out her DeviantART.

Commissioner Gordon Sketch #6 - Darwyn Cooke

Oh yes. Darwyn Cooke was kind enough to do this little sketch for me at Montreal Comic Con 2009. I can't put into words how thrilled I am with this. Gordon looks so smug! Darwyn is one of my favorite artists, and he's also just all around great.

Commissioner Gordon Sketch #5 - L. Whyte

This little sketch traveled a very long way. It was one of the first sketches done for me and it's the only one in the book where I didn't meet the artist in person as it was being drawn. L. Whyte is a multi-talented artist who just finished her first stop-motion short film, Nursery Crimes. She's a very good friend of mine and I really appreciate her taking the time to sketch this and send it all the way to Canada for me.
